Caleb Pickering

Percussionist, composer, and educator Caleb Pickering (b. 1990) is the Assistant Professor of Percussion and Music Theory at Northwest Missouri State University. A frequently requested guest artist and clinician, Caleb’s works have been regularly performed internationally, including performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and Phonon Percussion Festival (Taiwan). Caleb was the 2019 composer-in-residence for the World Percussion Group, directed by renowned percussion duo Maraca2 and has received commissions from universities and professional ensembles throughout the US and abroad, as well as numerous commissions from individuals. Caleb was a part of the 2017 Heartland Marimba Festival commissioning project for new educational marimba quartets and was also the runner-up of the HMF 2015 call for marimba trios competition with his piece Bloodworks. Caleb has been a frequent performer in the Dallas-Fort Worth & Las Vegas areas and was a semi-finalist in the 2017 Italy Percussive Arts Society Snare Drum Competition in Pescara, Italy. Caleb received his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from James Madison University, M.M. in Music Performance from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and B.S in Music Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, Texas Music Educators Association, and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).
